1955 Cadillac Fleetwood from Driving Miss Daisy Offered in Preserved ‘As Filmed’ Condition From Worldwide Auctioneers

A pivotal piece of American cinematic history is back in the spotlight, as the original 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special used in Driving Miss Daisy becomes available to collectors. Preserved in “as filmed” condition and boasting a professional cosmetic restoration, the vehicle offers enthusiasts a rare opportunity to own a film icon.

Recognized globally for its role in the Academy Award-winning 1989 film, the Cadillac was featured prominently alongside Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman, who portrayed Daisy Werthan and her chauffeur Hoke Colburn. As the narrative spanned 25 years of their relationship, the car became a symbol of both social change and personal connection, as well as a subtle co-star in its own right.

Factory-equipped with air-conditioning — which Miss Daisy famously refused to use — the Fleetwood 60 Special bridged the gap between Cadillac’s Series 62 sedans and full-sized limousines. Riding on a longer 133-inch wheelbase, it provided expanded rear passenger comfort in an understated luxury package, ideal for the role of a Southern matron’s primary transportation.

VIN 556025271, this specific example was cosmetically restored for its role in the film, with the interior reupholstered using period-correct reproduction materials. While the powertrain was serviced prior to filming, it remains roadworthy today.

Cadillac produced just 18,300 examples of the 60 Special in 1955, each starting at $4,729 from Detroit. However, its starring role in Driving Miss Daisy ensures this example’s value extends far beyond production rarity or condition alone.

Whether as a collectible tied to Hollywood history or a pristine example of mid-century Cadillac craftsmanship, this 1955 Fleetwood offers a compelling addition to any serious collection.

This vehicle is selling at Worldwide Auctioneers Enthusiast Auction on April 25th-26th in Auburn, Indiana. Over 250 classic and collector cars will be offered with 150 being offered at NO RESERVE.
