The legendary 1972 Lamborghini Miura SV, one of only 150 ever built and painted in the striking Blue Tahiti hue, has embarked on its final journey before being tucked away in a private collection. This particular Miura SV, a former Geneva Auto Show display car, is as rare as they come, with only two ever finished in this unique color.
Recently acquired by a mystery collector, the Miura SV was entrusted to detailing expert Larry Kosilla at AMMO NYC for a meticulous restoration. Driven to the detailing shop by Barney Ruprecht of Broad Arrow Group rather than transported via trailer, the car’s iconic V12 engine roared on public roads one last time, drawing smiles from admirers.
The Miura SV is renowned for its groundbreaking design and performance. Equipped with a transverse-mounted 3.9-liter V12 engine producing 380 horsepower, it accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in six seconds and reaches a top speed of 180 mph. Paired with a five-speed manual transmission, the Miura SV was the epitome of a street-legal race car. Distinctive gold-accented magnesium wheels and flared fenders emphasize its aggressive, yet elegant, stance.
Kosilla’s detailing process included careful rinsing, pre-foaming, and hand-washing with microfiber towels to preserve the 52-year-old paint. The car’s interior, adorned in delicate beige leather, received equally cautious attention to remove stains while maintaining its originality. Notably, the Miura SV retains all its original parts except for the paint, which was redone 30 years ago.
As the Miura SV is prepared for long-term storage, its new owner plans to drive it sparingly, ensuring its pristine condition for years to come. With similar models fetching up to $5 million at auction, this piece of automotive history is destined to remain an icon of Lamborghini’s golden era.
