Weighing just 1,045 kg, the car’s lightweight design and cutting-edge engineering delivered consistent podium finishes during the 1986 AJTCC season. Driven by racing legends Takao Wada and future Formula 1 driver Aguri Suzuki, the car achieved the following notable results:

  • Round 3 (Tsukuba Circuit): Qualified 5th, Finished 2nd

After retiring from racing, chassis DR30-000069 was remarkably well-preserved. Its current owner has cherished it in a private collection for 20 years, during which time it underwent a comprehensive restoration completed in July 2024. This process, led by skilled engineers, included a rebuild of the engine by a NISMO specialist, as well as the overhaul of major components like the gearbox, brakes, and fuel system. The car retains its original livery, featuring the iconic red, white, and blue NISMO colors, and has been restored to its 1986 “as-raced” condition.

In a special moment at Fuji Speedway in July 2024, Takao Wada was reunited with the restored car, taking it for joyful laps despite rainy conditions—a testament to the car’s enduring performance and historical significance.
