A rare 1934 Hispano-Suiza J12 Vanvooren Cabriolet, valued at $2 million, was tragically destroyed by fire shortly after being displayed at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The historic luxury car, which had placed second in its division at the renowned show, was being transported in a vehicle trailer on Highway 68 near Monterey when the fire broke out on Wednesday evening.

Monterey firefighters responded to the scene at approximately 5:36 p.m., finding the trailer fully engulfed in flames. The driver, who sustained minor injuries, managed to detach the tow vehicle, preventing further damage. Unfortunately, the Hispano-Suiza was a total loss.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but is not believed to be suspicious. This incident follows another tragic loss last month when a vintage concept car from 1979, valued at $1 million, was also destroyed in a trailer fire on Highway 1 in Monterey.

The Hispano-Suiza J12 Vanvooren Cabriolet was a remarkable piece of automotive history, and its destruction is a significant blow to the classic car world.
