The Ferrari 458 Speciale, widely regarded as one of the most exceptional modern Ferraris, has once again solidified its status as a collector’s dream. At the recent RM Sotheby’s Arizona auction, a 2015 example of this automotive masterpiece fetched an impressive $786,000, setting a new record for the model.
What made this particular 458 Speciale stand out? For starters, it was finished in the stunning Blu Tour de France color, accented by NART stripes and Giallo Modena brake calipers. The Scuderia Ferrari shields on the fenders, along with carbon fiber exterior details, added to its appeal. Inside, the cabin was dressed in a unique tan and blue leather combination, highlighted with contrast stitching and a yellow tachometer to match the brake calipers.
This specific car, originally delivered in Philadelphia, had 5,106 miles on the odometer, making it a relatively low-mileage example of this highly sought-after model.
At the heart of the 458 Speciale lies its legendary 4.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, known as the F136. This powerplant produces a staggering 597 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque, with a spine-tingling redline at 9,000 rpm. It holds the distinction of being the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 Ferrari had ever built at the time. Paired with a dual-clutch transmission, the 458 Speciale delivers explosive acceleration and razor-sharp shifts.
