An Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar, valued at around $4 million, came to an unfortunate halt in the middle of a rainy London evening, leaving its owner stranded in heavy traffic.
The breakdown occurred on the A40 near the Hilton London Metropole Hotel as the vehicle was headed toward Regent’s Park. Video footage captured by a passerby shows the high-performance hypercar stationary in the fast lane, hazard lights flashing, as vehicles maneuvered around it in the wet conditions.
The Valkyrie, a highly exclusive model with only 150 units produced, is not a car one typically sees navigating city streets, particularly in inclement weather. Yet, some owners choose to take their prized machines out despite the risks.
Powered by a Cosworth-built 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 paired with a Rimac-sourced KERS hybrid system, the Valkyrie produces an astonishing 1,176 horsepower. This immense power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission, making it one of the most extreme road-legal hypercars ever built.
While the exact cause of the breakdown remains unknown, high-performance vehicles like the Valkyrie are known for their precision engineering and complexity, which can sometimes lead to mechanical issues—especially when exposed to everyday traffic and wet conditions.
The incident highlights the challenges of driving a track-focused hypercar in an urban environment. Although designed for ultimate performance, the Valkyrie’s aggressive aerodynamics, low ride height, and race-derived technology make it far from the ideal city cruiser.
No injuries or accidents were reported as a result of the breakdown, and the Valkyrie was eventually removed from the road.
