Modern Car Collector readers have a rare opportunity to take home one of motorsport’s most legendary icons. Until Sept. 7, supporters will receive double entries in the sweepstakes to win a meticulously built Superformance GT40 MKI continuation car, valued at $250,000.

The car, offered through Downforce Motorsports, pays homage to Ford’s storied victories at Le Mans, most notably the 1969 triumph of Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver in chassis No. 1075. Wearing the unmistakable Gulf Oil blue-and-orange livery, the Superformance continuation is authorized to carry the GT40 name and built to the same standards as the original race-winning cars. More than two-thirds of its parts are interchangeable with the 1960s models, and the car is eligible for the official GT40 registry.

Power comes from a Roush 427SR V8 with Weber carburetion, producing 510 horsepower and paired with a Quaife ZFQ five-speed manual transmission. Modern components such as Bilstein coil-over shocks, Wilwood disc brakes, and an air-conditioning system enhance drivability while maintaining period-correct authenticity. The cockpit features Alcantara-trimmed riveted seats, Moto-Lita steering, and Smith gauges—details faithful to the GT40’s racing heritage.

The sweepstakes also carries a special regional connection. Pittsburgh, once home to Gulf Oil, played a crucial role in the GT40’s endurance racing dominance through its sponsorship of JW Automotive Engineering in the late 1960s. That partnership produced back-to-back Le Mans victories and cemented the Gulf livery as one of racing’s most enduring symbols.
Every entry helps support the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and its mission to aid individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities. Entries close Sept. 7, with the winner to be announced Sept. 13.

For enthusiasts and collectors, this is a chance to own more than a car—it’s an opportunity to drive a legend reborn. ENTER HERE.
