Ford Explores $300K, 1,000-HP Off-Road Supercar Concept

Ford may be preparing to enter uncharted territory with a project that sounds more like a desert racer fantasy than a production vehicle. CEO Jim Farley has suggested that the automaker could build a $300,000 off-road supercar capable of producing 1,000 horsepower, a move that would take the brand far beyond its current Bronco Raptor and F-150 Raptor performance offerings.

The concept, still in the earliest stages, would not simply mimic existing off-road specials like Porsche’s 911 Dakar or Lamborghini’s Huracán Sterrato. Instead, Farley envisions something more extreme — a machine that could rival purpose-built Dakar competitors while still carrying the Ford badge.

“We’re not interested in just copying what’s already out there,” Farley recently hinted. “This would be something totally new, with a level of performance the off-road world hasn’t seen.”

Ford has already demonstrated its willingness to pursue halo projects with unconventional appeal. The limited-production Mustang GTD, unveiled earlier this year, showed how the company can blend race-inspired engineering with exclusivity. An off-road supercar would continue that strategy, though at a price point that rivals elite European exotics.

Speculation centers on how Ford would package such a machine. A lightweight platform reinforced for desert racing, combined with advanced suspension technology, would be essential. The drivetrain could draw from Ford’s expanding hybrid and electric expertise, though Farley’s comments suggest an emphasis on raw internal combustion power.

If realized, the $300,000 desert supercar would mark one of the most ambitious undertakings in Ford’s modern history, pushing the brand into competition with some of the world’s most exclusive manufacturers. For now, it remains an idea — but one that could reshape Ford’s image in performance innovation.
