Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off its most powerful customer racing car to date, the GT2 Edition W16, a limited-production machine blending Formula 1-inspired technology with the German automaker’s proven GT racing platform.

The GT2 Edition W16 draws its name from Mercedes-AMG’s Formula 1 car designation and features a racing livery modeled after the team’s grand prix machines. Under the hood is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox. With the Push2Pass system engaged, the car delivers up to 818 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful track-only customer offering in AMG history.

Weighing just 3,153 pounds, the GT2 Edition W16 boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 3.85 lb/hp. Its chassis features fully adjustable four-way motorsport dampers and adjustable anti-roll bars, giving private teams and drivers the ability to fine-tune handling for varied circuits. Aerodynamic elements, including active louvres borrowed from the AMG One hypercar, an enlarged front diffuser, drag reduction system (DRS), and a carbon trunk spoiler, further enhance performance at speed.
The cockpit underscores its exclusivity, with each example carrying a “1 of 30” badge and hand-signed sill plates by Mercedes-AMG Formula 2 driver Kimi Antonelli. Safety equipment includes a five-point harness, fire suppression system, FIA-spec fuel tank, and adjustable traction control.

Mercedes-AMG will produce just 30 cars worldwide, priced at €679,000 (about $740,000) before taxes. Deliveries are expected to begin later this year, targeting wealthy enthusiasts and privateer teams seeking cutting-edge technology without the commitment of full factory racing support.
With its blend of extreme power, advanced aerodynamics, and F1-inspired design, the GT2 Edition W16 represents Mercedes-AMG’s latest push to dominate the track-day and customer racing market.
