Yohan Poonawalla Sets Global Milestone With Seven Rolls-Royce Phantoms on Display

Billionaire collector Yohan Poonawalla has set a new benchmark in the vintage automotive world by becoming the first person to present seven rare Rolls-Royce Phantoms at a single event. The display is part of the Phantom Centenary Exhibition, marking 100 years of the model’s legacy, held during the 1000 Miglia Experience in the United Arab Emirates. The five-day gathering brings together 120 teams and collectors from around the world to honor a century of the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Poonawalla’s lineup spans nearly a century of the model’s history. The collection begins with a 1928 17 EX Phantom I, once owned by the former Maharaja of Kashmir, followed by a 1933 Phantom II associated with British land-speed figure Sir Malcolm Campbell. Also featured is a 1937 Phantom III previously belonging to the ex-Maharaja of Panchkote, a 1962 Phantom V once owned by a former ruler of Qatar, and a 1979 Phantom VI connected to Queen Elizabeth II.

His modern Phantoms include a 2005 Phantom VII, the first new-generation Phantom delivered to India after the brand’s return, as well as his newest acquisition, a 2024 Phantom VIII Extended Wheelbase, known as the final EWB Phantom fitted with a privacy suite.

Two of Poonawalla’s cars—the Phantom VI and Phantom VII—are taking part in the open-road rally portion of the event, while the remaining five vehicles are on static display for public viewing.

Poonawalla’s broader garage extends far beyond his Phantom collection, which also includes two Phantom Drophead Coupes. His fleet spans high-performance and luxury models from Ferrari, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, and Land Rover, in addition to other aircraft and vehicles.
