1978 Ford F-250 Owned by David Spade Set for Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction

A 1978 Ford F-250 currently owned by comedian and actor David Spade is heading to the auction block later this month, offering collectors a mix of celebrity ownership and classic Ford truck appeal. The pickup is scheduled to be sold during the 2026 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction in Arizona, where celebrity-owned vehicles have long attracted strong interest from bidders.

Spade, who became widely known through his work on Saturday Night Live before building a lengthy film career, adds recognizable provenance to the truck. However, the F-250’s appeal extends beyond its famous owner. The truck is an XLT Ranger model that has been refinished in Silver Metallic with a white two-tone treatment, retaining a largely stock exterior appearance. Original chrome and trim pieces remain in place, preserving the classic styling that has helped make late-1970s Ford pickups increasingly desirable among collectors.

While the exterior maintains a traditional look, the truck has received several updates. It sits on a four-inch suspension lift and rides on 17-inch Raceline Rockcrusher wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. These upgrades give the F-250 a more aggressive stance without straying too far from its vintage roots.

Inside, the cabin features a black cloth interior that blends period-correct design with a few modern conveniences. Among the updates is an Old Air Products air conditioning system, adding comfort while maintaining a relatively understated appearance.

Power comes from a rebuilt 400 cubic-inch V8 engine that has been upgraded with a stronger camshaft, aluminum heads, a Weiand intake manifold, and a Holley carburetor. The engine is paired with a rebuilt three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Additional features include dual fuel tanks, front disc brakes, and power steering.

The Spade-owned F-250 follows a recent trend of celebrity-owned Ford vehicles appearing at major auctions. It joins a growing list that recently included a 2017 Ford GT previously owned by Tim Allen, which was offered for sale in November. As interest in both classic trucks and celebrity provenance continues to grow, this F-250 is expected to draw attention when it crosses the block in Scottsdale.
