Automobili Pininfarina has once again redefined automotive luxury and innovation with the unveiling of the Battista Targamerica, a one-of-a-kind, coach-built electric hypercar. Debuted at The Quail, A Motorsport Gathering during the prestigious Monterey Car Week, this vehicle is not just a car but a statement of bespoke craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology.
The Battista Targamerica marks a historic milestone for Automobili Pininfarina as it is the world’s first client-commissioned, coach-built electric hypercar. This masterpiece was crafted for a distinguished car collector who already owns the original Battista, signaling a deep collaboration between the client and Pininfarina’s renowned design team. The result is a highly customized vehicle that reflects the owner’s unique tastes and life story, embodied in every detail of the car.
Hand-built by artisans in Cambiano, Italy, in partnership with Pininfarina SpA, the Battista Targamerica showcases a stunning silver and blue color scheme, meticulously re-engineered to accommodate its roofless design. This open-top configuration offers an unparalleled driving experience, merging the brand’s PURA design philosophy with modern aesthetics and timeless luxury. The vehicle’s design pays homage to one of Pininfarina’s most iconic creations—the 1986 Ferrari Testarossa Spider, a car famously crafted for Fiat Chairman Gianni Agnelli. The horizontal lines on the rear luggage opening of the Targamerica echo the Testarossa Spider, blending heritage with avant-garde design.
Underneath its striking exterior, the Battista Targamerica shares the same electric powertrain as the Battista, Italy’s fastest road-legal car. It boasts four independent electric motors paired with a 120kWh lithium-ion battery, producing an astounding 1,900 horsepower and 2,340 Nm of torque. This power allows the hypercar to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under two seconds, with a top speed exceeding 300 km/h. Despite the challenges of designing a high-performance vehicle without the tensile support of a hard roof, Automobili Pininfarina’s team succeeded in delivering a car that offers both superior on-road stability and breathtaking performance.
Beyond its engineering prowess, the Battista Targamerica is a celebration of its owner’s individuality. The interior is outfitted with luxurious elements, including a custom-built cigar holder and humidor, seamlessly integrated into the cabin. These personal touches make the Targamerica not just a hypercar but a reflection of its owner’s personality and achievements.
Automobili Pininfarina’s CEO, Paolo Dellachà, emphasized the significance of this creation: “This is a seminal moment, delivering our first coach-built one-off vehicle to a client. Battista Targamerica, like no other vehicle before, demonstrates the infinite possibilities our highly skilled team can design and engineer.”
The Battista Targamerica represents a landmark in the brand’s commitment to creating unique, hand-crafted masterpieces that blend technology, performance, and timeless design. As the vehicle prepares to join one of the world’s most prestigious private collections, it stands as a testament to the art of coach-building and the future of luxury automotive design.
