A uniquely star-studded slice of Hollywood history is headed to auction on May 3, as the custom-built 1981 Elmco 605 golf cart once owned by legendary actor Burt Reynolds will be offered without reserve by the Passport Collection during the Henderson Collector Motor Series Auction.

Originally commissioned new by Reynolds, the Elmco 605 was used personally by the actor at his Florida ranch and reportedly made appearances on various movie sets throughout the 1980s. Designed with a nod to the grandeur of Rolls-Royce styling, the electric golf cart sports a luxury-themed body over an innovative aluminum chassis—the first of its kind for a golf cart at the time.

Built by Elmco, an early pioneer in upscale golf carts, the 605 model was among the industry’s first to combine utility with a high-end aesthetic. With chrome-like trim, a regal stance, and an electric motor designed for whisper-quiet operation, the cart reflects the opulence and flair associated with Reynolds during his heyday.

The cart was later acquired by the Passport Collection in 2009 and has since remained in private hands. Its VIN—simply listed as “605”—adds another layer of charm to the one-of-a-kind collectible. While it may not be road-legal, the cart stands out as a Hollywood artifact with crossover appeal to both movie memorabilia collectors and enthusiasts of offbeat automotive history.
This vehicle is selling at Worldwide Auctioneers Enthusiast Auction on April 25th-26th in Auburn, Indiana. Over 250 classic and collector cars will be offered with 150 being offered at NO RESERVE.
