At Fashion Island mall in Newport Beach, California, three armed men attempted to carjack a Ferrari 488 and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan late on a Saturday night. The violent encounter, which took place around 11:30 p.m., left one victim with minor injuries from shattered glass and another shaken after being robbed of his Rolex watch and wallet.

The victims were in the mall’s parking lot when the three men approached them, apparently targeting their luxury vehicles. The situation quickly escalated as the would-be carjackers attempted to forcefully take the cars. In a desperate bid to escape, the Ferrari driver sped off, only for one of the assailants to fire a shot that shattered the rear window of the supercar. Fortunately, the driver was not hit by the bullet, but flying glass caused minor cuts. He managed to flee the scene and sought refuge at a nearby gas station, where he called 911 for help.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Rolls-Royce was not as fortunate. During a physical struggle with the attackers, he was relieved of his expensive Rolex watch and wallet. Although he was not physically injured, the psychological impact of the assault was undoubtedly profound.

This incident is a stark reminder of the growing threat of carjackings, particularly in affluent areas where luxury vehicles are frequent targets. Just a short time ago, a similar robbery at the same mall ended in tragedy when a woman was killed during the attempted theft. The escalating violence in these crimes underscores the urgent need for stronger measures to protect citizens from such brazen attacks.

As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Authorities are also reminding the public to remain vigilant, especially in high-risk areas and during late hours.
