In the ongoing battle for hypercar supremacy, U.S.-based Czinger has reclaimed the lap record at California’s iconic Laguna Seca Raceway, defeating the Swedish Koenigsegg Jesko Attack by a razor-thin margin. Czinger’s 21C, piloted by development driver Joel Miller, clocked a 1:24.75 lap time, edging out Koenigsegg’s previous record by just 0.11 seconds.

The record-breaking lap follows Koenigsegg’s brief stint as Laguna Seca’s king when driver Markus Lundh achieved a 1:24.86 lap in the Jesko Attack during Monterey Car Week. That performance had bested Czinger’s 2021 lap time of 1:25.44 set by the same 21C model, prompting Czinger to swiftly respond.

The Czinger 21C, particularly in its Blackbird trim, boasts a twin-turbocharged 2.88-liter V8 paired with two electric motors to generate 1,333 horsepower, while Koenigsegg’s Jesko Attack harnesses a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 1,577 horsepower on E85 fuel. Despite the power differences, Czinger’s lower weight and advanced aerodynamics proved crucial in its victory.

This battle underscores the fierce rivalry between hypercar manufacturers, each vying to prove their engineering dominance on the track. With Czinger and Koenigsegg exchanging lap records and setting their sights on new milestones, the hypercar competition is far from over.
