A 1995 Ferrari F50 has just made history by selling for an astounding $5.5 million at RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction, setting a new record for the model. This remarkable sale underscores the continued allure and escalating value of Ferrari’s limited-production supercars.
The Ferrari F50 in question, bearing chassis no. 103921, was the 47th F50 produced by the legendary Maranello factory and one of only 55 examples originally delivered to the United States. Its journey began in Houston, Texas, where it first arrived in its iconic Rosso Corsa paint.
However, this F50’s story took an intriguing turn when it was later repainted in the stunning Azzurro California. Despite the color change, the car was meticulously restored to its original Rosso Corsa specification by Ferrari of Houston before it changed hands in 2004, finding a new home with Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage.
Over the years, this F50 has not only been admired for its rarity but also for its pristine condition. The car is Ferrari Classiche Certified, a testament to its authenticity and excellent preservation. It has accumulated just 8,556 miles, making it a well-maintained example of one of Ferrari’s most celebrated models.
In addition to its immaculate condition, the F50 comes complete with an array of original accessories, including a three-piece luggage set, red Ferrari seat and steering covers, the Barchetta top, and roll bars, enhancing its appeal to collectors. The car’s exceptional quality was recognized at the prestigious Cavallino Classic Palm Beach in 2023, where it received its third Platinum award.
This record-breaking sale highlights the enduring passion and investment potential surrounding Ferrari’s iconic supercars, with the F50 now firmly established as one of the most coveted models in the marque’s storied history.
