In a bold departure from the racetracks of Europe and the sun-drenched streets of Maranello, Ferrari has taken its performance cars to the Arctic Circle to prove that its prancing horses can gallop through snow as effortlessly as they do on asphalt.

As part of its Corso Pilota On-Ice program, Ferrari hosted clients and enthusiasts in Levi, Finland—home to the country’s largest ski resort in Lapland—for a series of high-performance driving experiences in sub-zero conditions. The Italian automaker brought along the mid-engine 296 GTB, the track-focused 296 Challenge, and its first-ever SUV, the Purosangue, to demonstrate the brand’s capabilities on ice.

Participants were treated to expert instruction from Ferrari factory driver and two-time Le Mans class winner Toni Vilander, who also designed the technical ice track layouts. Drivers received personal coaching on car control, braking, and sliding in one of the world’s most demanding driving environments.

While the event was centered on mastering the art of performance driving in snow and ice, it also embraced Finnish culture. Guests enjoyed local culinary offerings and traditional experiences in between laps on the frozen circuit. Non-driving attendees were invited to ride along as passengers, taking in the thrill from the co-driver’s seat.

The inclusion of the Purosangue, Ferrari’s 715-horsepower four-door all-wheel-drive SUV, highlighted the brand’s push into new territory—both in product and terrain. It joins the 296 GTB, Ferrari’s plug-in hybrid V6 sports car, and its race-bred sibling, the 296 Challenge, to form a trio that underscores Ferrari’s expanding portfolio.

The Corso Pilota On-Ice program in Finland adds a frosty new chapter to Ferrari’s performance legacy, proving that the Maranello marque’s cars are as at home in Lapland snowdrifts as they are on Monza’s curves.
