Ferrari’s SC40 and CZ26 Trademarks Spark Speculation of New Supercars

Ferrari is once again stirring the supercar world, filing two new trademark names in Italy that have fans and experts speculating wildly about what the Prancing Horse might unveil next.

The filings, “SC40” and “CZ26,” were made with little context — just eight characters total — but with Ferrari, even a single letter can ignite global buzz. While details remain under wraps, the names have sparked talk of special editions or even heritage-inspired revivals from the brand’s iconic past.

Of the two, SC40 has drawn the most attention. The combination evokes Ferrari’s legendary F40, the raw, twin-turbo icon that defined late ’80s performance. The letters “SC” could hint at Scuderia Corsa, Ferrari’s racing arm, suggesting a track-focused edition or tribute car. With whispers of Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton’s involvement in an F40-inspired project, the SC40 could be more than a coincidence — it might be a rebirth.

“The F40 is sacred to Ferrari fans,” said one insider familiar with the brand’s special project cars. “If SC40 means what many hope it does, we could be looking at the most exciting release since the LaFerrari.”

The other name, CZ26, remains a mystery. Some speculate it could be a nod to Ferrari’s historic Le Mans entries, such as car number 26 that raced in the 1966 Paris 1,000KM. Others suggest it may reference a bespoke one-off model or commemorate an event or individual tied to the brand’s racing legacy.

Ferrari has not confirmed whether either trademark will become a production model, but history suggests that when Maranello moves this quietly, something big is coming.

With Le Mans 2025 around the corner, and Ferrari’s growing slate of limited-run and bespoke models, fans may not have to wait long for answers.

One thing is certain: Ferrari’s next chapter is close, and if these names are any indication, it could be a thrilling ride.
