A custom-built Ford Mustang Trans Am race car, originally constructed for Steve Burns, the founder of VP Racing Fuels, by BC Race Cars of Ontario, Canada, is now being offered for sale in California. This exceptional vehicle, designed for Trans Am competition, features a carbon-fiber body mounted to a tubular steel chassis and is powered by a robust Roush-Yates 358ci V8 engine.

The Mustang’s impressive powertrain includes a Wilson intake manifold, MSD ignition module, and ATL fuel cell. The car rides on 16” Bogart wheels fitted with Goodyear Eagle racing slicks, supported by Öhlins Racing adjustable coilovers and sway bars, which can be fine-tuned from the cabin. Stopping power is provided by Brembo brake calipers and slotted rotors, managed through a Tilton pedal set. An air jack system is also installed for quick tire changes during races.

Inside, the race-prepped cabin is equipped with a comprehensive roll cage, Butlerbuilt racing seat with a Sabelt harness valid through 2024, and a suite of advanced racing electronics, including a Motec digital display and a Motorola radio. Safety features include a fire suppression system, battery cutoff switch, Safecraft quick-release safety net, and multiple cameras providing views to the rear and from both driver and passenger perspectives.

Under current ownership since 2022, the car has seen significant updates, including the installation of an EMCO Gears five-speed sequential manual transmission, stainless steel exhaust headers fabricated by Max Plowman, and replacement of the alternator and starter. The Roush-Yates V8 engine, paired with the EMCO transmission and a BRG Racing output shaft, ensures top-notch performance. However, the seller notes a minor leak from the differential.

The exterior of the Mustang is finished in black with blue number graphics and includes several aerodynamic enhancements, such as a louvered lift-off hood, acrylic windows, rear diffuser, right-side exhaust outlet, and a rear wing with aluminum uprights. While the car shows some signs of wear, such as cracks on the front splitter and paint chips, it remains in formidable racing condition.

The sale includes additional body panels, extra wheels and tires, spare parts, service records, and a bill of sale. Designed by AMB Aero of Japan, an alternate nose section, rear wing, and undertray are also provided to enhance downforce for unlimited-category competition.

Notably, this Mustang lacks a standard 17-digit VIN, is not legal for road use, and has not been registered for the street. It is being sold strictly for racing purposes on a bill of sale.
