A former Amazon delivery contractor has been convicted in a wide-ranging fraud scheme that diverted millions of dollars from the company into personal accounts, funding luxury vehicles and real estate in metro Atlanta.
A federal jury found Brittany Hudson guilty on 30 counts, including conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering and forgery. The case stems from a scheme that began in 2022 and involved multiple individuals. Hudson was one of seven people charged in connection with the operation.
According to court records, Hudson owned Legend Express LLC, a company contracted by Amazon to deliver packages. Authorities said the scheme relied on insider access, as Hudson’s partner, Kayricka Wortham, worked at an Amazon warehouse in Smyrna and had authority to approve vendor payments.
Prosecutors determined the pair submitted fraudulent invoices, allowing them to transfer approximately $9.4 million into their own bank accounts. The funds were then used for personal purchases, including a home valued at $1 million in Smyrna.
Investigators also linked the stolen money to several high-end vehicles and a motorcycle, including a Lamborghini Urus, Tesla Model X, Porsche Panamera, Dodge Durango and a Kawasaki sport bike.
The case expanded further after authorities said the two continued deceptive activity while out on bond. Prosecutors alleged they misled a business associate into believing the charges had been dismissed. As part of that effort, Hudson forged signatures of two judges to make the documents appear legitimate.
Federal charges against Hudson and Wortham were initially filed in January 2023. Wortham later pleaded guilty in June of that year and received a 16-year prison sentence. She was also ordered to pay nearly $9.5 million in restitution to Amazon and forfeited the vehicles tied to the scheme.
Hudson was convicted on March 13 and is scheduled to be sentenced in June. Authorities said the case underscores the risks of internal fraud and the scale of financial damage such schemes can cause when oversight is exploited.
