The collector car market has entered 2026 with strong momentum, as early auction events signal continued demand for rare and desirable vehicles. One of the latest examples comes from GAA Classic Cars, which reported significant results following its February auction event.
Held at the company’s headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina, the three-day auction brought together buyers, collectors and enthusiasts eager to secure both modern performance icons and historically significant muscle cars. By the end of the event, 82% of all vehicles offered had been sold, highlighting continued strength across multiple segments of the collector market.
Several vehicles emerged as standout sales during the auction, led by a 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition that sold for $1,036,800. The car was described as a never-titled example, adding to its appeal among collectors seeking well-preserved or untouched vehicles from the modern supercar era.
Classic American muscle cars also performed strongly throughout the event. A 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Yenko reached a final sale price of $426,600, while a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 brought $334,800. Both models remain highly sought after due to their rarity and historical significance within the muscle car era.
Additional notable results included a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird that sold for $286,200 and a 1968 Ford Shelby GT500KR that achieved a final price of $220,000. These vehicles represent some of the most recognizable performance models produced during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Alongside the high-value collector car sales, the event also featured a charitable moment that drew attention from attendees. George and Megan Shinn presented a 2004 Cadillac XLR during the auction, donating the vehicle to raise funds for the Rebuilding Hollers Foundation. The nonprofit organization focuses on restoring homes and assisting families affected by Hurricane Helene.
The auction generated $107,292 for the foundation, supporting ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts.
With strong participation and high-profile sales closing out the February event, GAA Classic Cars is preparing to continue the momentum with its next scheduled auction, set to take place April 9 through April 11.
