Genesis Reveals 1,100-HP X Skorpio Off-Road Supercar in Desert Debut

Genesis has unveiled one of its most extreme concept vehicles to date, introducing the X Skorpio, a high-powered off-road supercar designed with desert performance firmly in mind. The Korean luxury brand revealed the prototype during a special event in the Rub’ al Khali, also known as the Empty Quarter, one of the most expansive sand deserts in the world.

The dramatic setting underscored the X Skorpio’s purpose. Although the vehicle carries supercar proportions, it was conceived less as a track-focused machine and more as a desert-running spectacle inspired by the off-road racers seen in events like the Dakar Rally, which has recently been held in the region.

Visually, the X Skorpio pushes far beyond previous Genesis concepts. It features a stretched fastback profile, exaggerated bodywork, and a towering ride height that gives it an unmistakable presence. Massive, flared fenders wrap around enormous 40-inch all-terrain tires, giving the concept a bold, almost cartoon-like stance that emphasizes capability over subtlety. The aggressive proportions make last year’s X Gran Equator appear restrained by comparison.

Inside, the two-seat cabin balances the rugged exterior with the upscale detailing Genesis is known for. Quilted leather surfaces dominate the interior, complemented by advanced technology. The cockpit incorporates competition-inspired elements, including a steering wheel with an integrated digital gauge display. A sliding navigation screen can be positioned for use by either occupant, blending practicality with a futuristic layout. Given the desert environment, the concept also appears designed with robust climate control in mind.

Technical specifics remain limited, as is typical for a concept vehicle. Genesis has confirmed the X Skorpio is powered by a high-performance V-8 engine producing 1,100 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. Those figures suggest exceptional straight-line performance in loose terrain, even if the vehicle’s off-road focus may limit its effectiveness on pavement.

While the X Skorpio is not intended for mass production, Genesis has indicated there is interest in building a small number of examples. A limited production run is being considered specifically for customers in the Middle East, where high-performance desert vehicles hold strong appeal. At this time, there are no plans to offer the model in other global markets.
