At the heart of the ZR1 is Chevrolet’s new LT7 powerplant, a 5.5-liter, twin-turbocharged DOHC V-8 with a flat-plane crankshaft. The engine produces a staggering 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm, numbers that set a new benchmark for American performance cars. With its advanced engineering, the LT7 represents the most powerful V-8 ever offered by a U.S. automaker in a production car.
Chevrolet estimates the car will accelerate through the quarter mile in under 10 seconds and achieve a racetrack-tested top speed of 233 mph.
