While there has been some interest in collecting first-generation Tesla Roadsters, the jury is still out on just how collectable in the long run EV performance models will be. If any are worth a pretty penny in the future, surely the Pininfarina Battista will be. After all, the EV hypercar has all the makings of a modern classic, depending on which way the tides of time go.

Learn how the Rolls-Royce Arcadia pushes the envelope of bespoke luxury.

At first glance, one would assume the Battista is another mid-engine hypercar since it has that general appearance. It’s not a derivative of other designs, using some unique lines since there’s no engine to feed a constant supply of oxygen. It’s a good-looking car that’s easy on the eyes, and the side mirrors are something so unique they stick with you for a long time.

Pininfarina claims the Battista is “the most powerful Italian sports car ever.” That’s something we expect others to contest in the future, but it’s indisputable the peak 1,900-horsepower is far beyond impressive, as is the max torque of 1,725 lb.-ft.

All that power sure sounds wondrous, but it does little if the tires just spin or it’s lost between the motors and wheels. With a claimed 0-62 acceleration time of a blistering 1.86 seconds one can see how this has stolen the thunder of quite a few competitors.

Other specs are just as impressive, including a 0-124 time of 4.75 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph. Its skidpad performance is just as amazing, going 62 mph to a full stop in just 31 meters. All that is packaged with AWD using full torque vectoring, so handling should be quite taut.

The big question is how will battery-electric vehicles be viewed moving forward? We don’t have a crystal ball, so like everyone else we can merely speculate. But if they age well, we expect the Battista will only become more desirable as time marches on.
