Three Pre-War Icons From the Jack Shewmaker Collection Head to Mecum Kissimmee 2026

Mecum’s Kissimmee 2026 auction is shaping up to be a showcase of early American motoring heritage, highlighted by three beautifully preserved pre-war classics from The Jack Shewmaker Collection. Each will cross the block Wednesday, January 14, all offered at no reserve—a rare chance for collectors to bring home authentic examples from the late 1920s.

The first of the trio, a 1928 Ford Model A Sport Coupe (Lot V2), represents the debut year of one of Ford’s most influential models. Powered by a 201 CI inline four-cylinder paired with a 3-speed manual transmission, it features four-wheel mechanical drum brakes and a laminated safety glass windshield—innovative for its time. Finished in teal with black fenders and a tan landau top, this coupe shows off period details like cream wire wheels, a rumble seat, and bright bumpers, perfectly capturing the charm of Ford’s post-Model T evolution.

Next up is the 1929 Ford Model A Phaeton (Lot V3), a stylish open-top tourer finished in two-tone light and dark green with a tan interior. Also powered by Ford’s 201 CI four-cylinder and 3-speed manual, it sports dual side mirrors, an accessory clock built into the center rearview mirror, and Firestone whitewall tires on wire wheels. With its electric starter and rear-mounted spare, this Phaeton offers both elegance and functionality in equal measure.

Rounding out the group is a 1929 Studebaker Dictator Sedan (Lot V4), restored and equipped with a 242 CI inline-six rated at 67 horsepower. The maroon-and-black exterior pairs with a brown broadcloth interior, Stewart Warner gauges, and features like Lovejoy shock absorbers, dual side-mount spares, and a Boyce MotoMeter. With its tilt-out windshield, luggage rack, and radiator stone guard, it embodies Studebaker’s blend of craftsmanship and refinement from the era.

These three automobiles stand as testaments to the engineering ambition and design artistry that defined America’s pre-war years. Each tells its own story of innovation and elegance—and come January, one bidder per car will write the next chapter.
