Jane Fonda’s 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Hits the Market

A piece of Hollywood and automotive history is now available for collectors. RM Sotheby’s has listed a stunning 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB once owned by Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda and her first husband, French director Roger Vadim. This rare vehicle represents not only a golden era of cinema but also one of Ferrari’s most celebrated designs.

The Ferrari 275 GTB, chassis no. 08641, was purchased by Fonda and Vadim in 1966 during their time in France. As a follow-up to Ferrari’s legendary 250 series, the 275 GTB captured the imagination of celebrities worldwide, with icons like Steve McQueen and Miles Davis among its owners. This particular car served as a stylish means of transport for the Hollywood couple while enjoying the French countryside.

Originally finished in metallic Azzuro, the car was repainted red by a subsequent owner but was later returned to its original shade during a meticulous restoration. Its Nero leather interior, accented with wood trim and a gated shifter, exudes classic Ferrari charm.

Under the hood, the 275 GTB boasts a 3.3-liter Colombo V-12 engine producing 280 horsepower. Paired with a five-speed manual transaxle transmission, the car can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just over six seconds and achieve a top speed of 160 mph.

With its blend of Hollywood allure, historical significance, and Italian engineering, this 275 GTB is expected to draw significant interest. RM Sotheby’s has not disclosed the price, but given the car’s provenance and condition, it’s likely to command a hefty sum.

Collectors eager to own this iconic Ferrari should act quickly, as opportunities to acquire such a unique and storied vehicle are few and far between. Whether for its connection to Jane Fonda or its status as a timeless automotive masterpiece, this 275 GTB is destined to be a prized possession.
