One of the most recognizable Ferraris to grace British roads — not for its model, but for its ownership — is now up for grabs. Jeremy Clarkson’s former 1996 Ferrari F355 GTS is being offered for sale through RM Sotheby’s, with an estimate between £180,000 and £220,000.

Famously featured in Clarkson’s Unleashed on Cars VHS special, the F355 GTS was hailed by the outspoken presenter as “the greatest car in the world; ever.” The endorsement wasn’t fleeting — Clarkson was so smitten, he purchased one new from Maranello Sales in Egham in August 1996.
Spec’d in Rosso Corsa over Crema leather with Rosso carpets and ultra-rare sports seats with Rosso inserts, the targa-topped Ferrari became a fixture in Clarkson’s writing and broadcast work. It appeared in Top Gear Magazine, The Sunday Times, and even played a role in a column recounting his failed driving test retake.

Despite its celebrity past, the F355 was driven sparingly. By 2000, Clarkson had logged just 6,000 miles. The car later changed hands through a Sunday Times prize giveaway and has had three subsequent owners, the latest maintaining it meticulously through Italia Autosport in West Yorkshire.
Recent servicing in May 2025 included a full belt service, steering rack refresh, and cosmetic detailing at a cost of over £9,000. At the time of cataloguing, the odometer showed just 14,899 miles.
Equipped with a coveted manual gearbox and rare factory sports seats, this F355 GTS stands out even without its Clarkson provenance. But paired with its media history and unique specification, it becomes one of the most desirable examples of Ferrari’s beloved 1990s V8 series.
The car is accompanied by original manuals, tool kit, and car cover, and will be sold without reserve.
