A brand-new Koenigsegg Jesko met a fiery end during an enthusiasts’ event in Greece, reducing the $4 million hypercar to a heap of charred metal and carbon fiber. The tragic incident occurred during the 6to6 Motor Europe Tour, which spans several countries, starting in Athens and ending in Monaco.
The Jesko, one of only 125 ever made, had barely covered 124 miles since its delivery before it burst into flames just five minutes into the drive. The incident took place in the suburbs of Athens, where temperatures had soared to over 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit), potentially contributing to the fire. Fortunately, both the driver and passenger escaped unharmed.

The Koenigsegg team swiftly responded, sending engineers from Sweden to Greece to investigate the cause of the blaze. Local Greek authorities are also conducting their own investigation to determine what led to the catastrophic fire. The car, known for its exposed carbon fiber body with gold accents, was participating in the tour alongside over 70 other high-performance vehicles.
The destroyed Jesko, specifically a Nur Edition, featured a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine capable of producing 1,578 horsepower on E85 fuel or 1,280 horsepower on regular petrol. This engine, paired with a nine-speed multi-clutch Koenigsegg Light Speed Transmission (LST), powered the car’s rear wheels. The vehicle’s unpainted carbon fiber package alone cost $443,400, adding to its exclusivity and high value.
The incident is a significant loss for the hypercar community, given the Jesko’s rarity and engineering excellence. All 125 units of the Jesko have been sold, meaning the owner will need to look to the secondary market to replace the lost vehicle. The charred remains of what was once a meticulously crafted machine now serve as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of automotive events.
As the investigation continues, enthusiasts and collectors alike are left to mourn the loss of a hypercar that symbolized the pinnacle of automotive innovation. This unfortunate event underscores the importance of safety and caution, even for the most advanced and expensive vehicles on the road.
