The automotive landscape is shifting, and Lamborghini is charging ahead with the introduction of the Urus SE, its first plug-in hybrid model in the U.S. Unveiled last week in New York City in an exclusive event attended by Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann, this vehicle combines traditional Italian craftsmanship with groundbreaking hybrid technology. The launch signals Lamborghini’s commitment to a more sustainable future without sacrificing the performance the brand is known for.
The Urus SE is powered by a robust 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine complemented by an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed transmission, delivering a combined output of 789 horsepower and 701 lb-ft of torque. This setup propels the luxury SUV from 0 to 62 mph just a tad slower than its non-hybrid counterparts, the Urus Performante and Urus S, at 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 194 mph. Despite these impressive specs, it also offers a modest all-electric range of 37 miles, courtesy of a 25.9 kWh battery, presenting a blend of everyday usability with exceptional performance.
Priced between $245,000 and $275,000, with customer deliveries expected to start by year-end, the Urus SE features aesthetic updates including new headlights, a redesigned grille, and refreshed tailgate trim. It rides on 23-inch Pirelli P Zero tires that promise to deliver the gripping performance needed for such power. Inside, the cabin boasts a 12.3-inch infotainment display, revised air vents, and upgraded materials that enhance tactile interaction with the vehicle’s controls.
As Lamborghini moves towards electrification, the Urus SE stands as a testament to the brand’s ability to innovate and adapt in an evolving automotive world. This launch not only highlights Lamborghini’s dedication to performance but also its responsiveness to the growing demand for sustainable luxury vehicles in the U.S. market.
