A rare, ultra-low mileage example of Dodge’s iconic supercar will cross the block during Mecum’s Indy Fall Special on October 4. The 1997 Dodge Viper GTS Coupe, finished in the unmistakable Viper Blue with dual white stripes, shows just 2,941 miles on its odometer, making it one of the most pristine survivors of its era.

The GTS Coupe marked an important step in the Viper’s evolution. Introduced in 1996, it refined the raw roadster formula with a fixed roof, enhanced aerodynamics, and a dose of comfort, all while retaining the brute force of Chrysler’s 8.0-liter V10. Rated at 450 horsepower, the engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission pushed the Viper into true supercar territory, capable of sub-five-second sprints to 60 mph and quarter-mile times in the low 12s.

This particular car is presented in highly original condition, a rarity for models that were often driven hard. Its polished 17-inch alloy wheels, center-exit exhaust, and factory Alpine CD stereo remain intact, while the black leather interior shows minimal wear. The sale includes owner’s manuals and a copy of the original window sticker, along with a clean CarFax report.

Built on a tubular space frame with a center spine structure and clad in composite body panels, the GTS combined cutting-edge engineering with throwback muscle. The car’s four-wheel independent suspension, coilover shocks, and power rack-and-pinion steering made it a capable handler, though its raw character and lack of electronic driver aids defined its reputation.

Crossing the block at no reserve, this Viper GTS offers collectors the opportunity to acquire a piece of 1990s performance history in near time-capsule condition. For fans of American supercars, few icons carry the presence—or the pedigree—of Dodge’s blue-striped beast. See it here.
