A meticulously maintained 2006 Ford GT, currently on display at the Jax Sports Car Museum in Jacksonville, Florida, has been listed for sale. This iconic American supercar, with just 6,000 miles on the odometer, is finished in the eye-catching Mark IV Red over an Ebony leather interior. The vehicle is offered by the seller’s LLC, complete with service records, a spare McIntosh stereo, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.
Inspired by the legendary GT40 racing cars of the 1960s, this 2006 Ford GT is one of only 348 units finished in Mark IV Red for the model year. The car features optional over-the-top white stripes and Ford GT graphics, enhancing its classic racing aesthetics. The exterior is further accentuated by HID headlights, fog lights, side air intakes, a vented hood, a front splitter, a rear diffuser, and a dual center-exit exhaust system. Since its previous auction, the car has received white Ford GT side graphics, and the seller has performed paint correction followed by a ceramic coating, ensuring the car’s finish remains immaculate.
At the heart of this Ford GT is a supercharged 5.4-liter DOHC V8 engine. This powerhouse features an aluminum block, cylinder heads, and pistons, coupled with a Lysholm screw-type supercharger, a dry-sump lubrication system, and a water-to-air intercooler. The factory-rated output stands at an impressive 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. Recent maintenance in May 2024 included an oil change and a coolant flush. The engine’s power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Ricardo six-speed manual transaxle and a helical limited-slip differential. The car also benefits from Ford Racing mufflers, enhancing its auditory appeal. A transaxle fluid flush was performed in May 2024, ensuring optimal performance.
The GT is equipped with factory-optional BBS forged lightweight aluminum wheels, measuring 18 inches at the front and 19 inches at the rear. These are shod with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires, sized 235/45 at the front and 315/40 at the rear. The Brembo braking system, featuring optional red-painted four-piston monoblock calipers and cross-drilled and ventilated rotors, ensures exceptional stopping power.
Inside, the cockpit is trimmed in Ebony leather, with rubber mats protecting the bare aluminum floors. The manually adjusted seats, designed by Sparco, feature carbon-fiber shells with GT40-style ventilation grommets and harness slots, ensuring both comfort and a racing feel. The center console houses rotary climate controls, with amenities including air conditioning, remote keyless entry, and push-button ignition. The car is fitted with a Ford short-shift kit, and a McIntosh stereo is included in the sale. Airbag recalls were performed in June 2022.
The driver is greeted by a leather-wrapped steering wheel on a tilting and telescoping column. The GT40-inspired instrument array features a central tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline and an offset 220-mph speedometer. Additional gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, boost, and fuel level are controlled by toggle switches. The digital odometer reads 6,000 miles, with approximately 400 miles added under the current ownership.
This 2006 Ford GT, with its low mileage and excellent condition, presents a rare opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike. With its rich history, meticulous maintenance, and host of premium features, this Ford GT is a testament to American automotive engineering. Don’t miss the chance to own a piece of automotive history.
