A classic car once owned by pop icon Madonna failed to find a buyer at an auction held at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge, Surrey, on Saturday. The vehicle, a 1967 Jaguar Mark X 4.2, had an estimated value of £16,000-£22,000 but remained unsold despite interest.
Madonna originally purchased the luxury car three years ago as a gift for her son, Rocco, according to Historics Auctioneers. The car was later sold by the pop star a year after the purchase. Matthew Priddy of Historics Auctioneers noted that the car had a unique provenance due to its famous former owner. “This car is interesting because of who owned it,” Priddy said, adding that Madonna had used the Jaguar for photoshoots, even sharing images on her Instagram account.

Auctioneers initially speculated that the car could exceed its estimated value due to its connection to the Queen of Pop. However, despite its star-studded history and unique features, it failed to secure a sale during the auction. The vehicle remains available for purchase.
In contrast, another notable car from the auction, a 1925 Ford Model T two-seat runabout, did find a buyer. Known for its appearances in films like Fantastic Beasts and Wicked Little Letters, as well as TV dramas including Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge, the Ford Model T sold for £13,156—slightly below its estimated value of £15,000-£20,000.
The auction highlighted the unpredictability of the classic car market, where even vehicles with celebrity connections and film pedigrees are not guaranteed to fetch high prices.
