Manny Khoshbin, a renowned real estate mogul and car collector, recently got his hands on one of the world’s most exclusive hypercars: the Bugatti Bolide. This $4.7 million, 1,850-horsepower monster is one of only 40 models ever made, and Khoshbin is one of the first Americans to own it. While the Bolide, which is not road-legal, isn’t ready for the open road yet, that didn’t stop Khoshbin from taking it out for a test drive—albeit in his own backyard.
The car was delivered to Khoshbin’s home in early January, but due to its high-performance nature and extreme engineering, it was kept idle for several weeks. The Bugatti team had warned him about the car’s limitations, especially its engine, which lacks traditional fans and can overheat quickly if not handled correctly. As a result, the team pushed the car into his garage without starting it, leaving Khoshbin with a set of manuals and instructions on how to handle the Bolide’s complex systems.
Despite the warnings, Khoshbin’s patience wore thin, and he decided to take the car for a short spin around his six-acre property. After fastening the five-point harness and pushing the necessary buttons to bring the beast to life, Khoshbin maneuvered the Bolide around his driveway and parking lot. While the car’s track-focused, Formula 1-like design left little room for comfort, the experience was exhilarating. “Oh, my God!” he exclaimed multiple times as he pushed the car’s limits in the small space. “I’ve never had such a high heartbeat. This car almost gives you a stroke!”
Though Khoshbin’s full experience with the Bolide is still months away, when he joins a track event in May, the short drive around his property left him in awe of the car’s power. “Dream big!” Khoshbin said, reflecting on his journey from homelessness to owning one of the world’s rarest hypercars. “I used to be homeless, now I’ve got a Bolide!”
