Maserati MC25 Supercar Teased in New Trademark Filing Ahead of Possible 2025 Reveal

Maserati appears to be accelerating its plans for a new supercar, as recent trademark filings hint at the imminent arrival of a model named the MC25.

The Italian automaker registered the “MC25” moniker with the World Intellectual Property Organization earlier this year, suggesting that a follow-up to the MC20 may be just months away. Industry analysts note that the “MC” designation continues Maserati’s lineage from the MC12 and MC20, with the “25” likely referencing a 2025 debut.

Unlike many long-range automotive trademarks, this filing may point to a vehicle much closer to market. The MC20, Maserati’s current flagship, was introduced in 2020. Given that timeline, a mid-cycle refresh or evolution of the car would align with Maserati’s product strategy.

While Maserati has not officially confirmed details, sources close to the matter suggest the MC25 will be a high-performance upgrade of the MC20 rather than an entirely new model. Styling changes are expected to be subtle, retaining the MC20’s carbon-fiber monocoque and aerodynamic silhouette, while significant improvements may lie under the hood.

Maserati’s twin-turbocharged Nettuno V6 engine is expected to remain the core of the MC25’s powertrain. However, insiders speculate that output could surpass 700 horsepower, rivaling the track-only MCXtrema and placing it firmly among top-tier performance cars.

A reveal could happen as early as this summer, with Monterey Car Week in August seen as a likely stage. The Pebble Beach Concours and The Quail have become popular launchpads for exotic vehicles in recent years, and Maserati has previously used the venue for major announcements.

If confirmed, the MC25 would mark another chapter in Maserati’s push to reestablish its presence in the ultra-competitive supercar market.
