When McLaren introduced the Senna in 2018, it sparked considerable debate among enthusiasts. Some critics felt the hypercar didn’t do justice to the legacy of the late Ayrton Senna. However, as time has passed, the model has grown on many, and its bold design is now better appreciated.

Production of the Senna was brief but impactful, concluding after just one year when the 500th unit was produced. Built on the same platform as the 720S, Elva, and Speedtail, the Senna features a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged engine that powers the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Compared to the 720S, the Senna boasts enhanced power and performance. Its 4.0-liter V8 engine produces 789 hp (800 ps/588 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque, delivering a notable boost over the 720S’s output. This translates to a 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) sprint in just 2.8 seconds, a tenth of a second quicker than the 720S. The Senna’s top speed is 208 mph (335 kph), slightly lower than its sibling.

Despite its initial reception, the Senna’s value has skyrocketed. Pristine examples often fetch around $2 million on the secondary market. The model featured in recent photographs, however, isn’t up for sale. Instead, it’s showcasing its new Vossen MC3 alloy wheels. These high-end wheels are available in 20 and 21 inches, starting at $11,500 per set, and come in one of 48 finishes. The pictured Senna flaunts black alloys, complemented by a dark red paint job, red brake calipers, black elements, and distinctive decals on the large rear wing.

Interestingly, the hashtags used by Vossen hinted at Novitec’s involvement in the car’s modifications. A closer inspection revealed that many of the car’s aggressive design elements, such as the multi-fin diffuser, side skirts, chin spoiler, and rear wing, remain unchanged from the stock version. The suspension also appears unmodified, maintaining its original ground clearance.

In the world of tuning, subtle changes can make a significant impact. The new wheels on this McLaren Senna exemplify how a single modification can enhance a car’s aesthetics. This Senna, with its striking appearance and enhanced wheels, stands out as a dream car for many. But the question remains: if you had a couple of million dollars, would you add this hypercar to your collection, or would you choose something else?
