Mecum Glendale 2024 Auction Achieves Over $54 Million in Sales with Rare Collectibles Leading the Charge

The recent Mecum Auctions event at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, held from March 5-9, has significantly surpassed expectations, with sales reaching beyond $54 million. Across five days, 942 classic and collector vehicles found new owners, marking a triumphant moment for the automotive auction house. A highly awarded 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe (Lot S143) took the spotlight, fetching an astounding $1.815 million, the highest sale of the event.

Ford’s performance machines commanded attention, securing positions two to five among the top sales. A 2021 Ford GT Studio Collection Series (Lot S162), one of just 20 produced, led with a $946,000 sale, showcasing its rarity and low mileage. The auction also highlighted a 2005 Ford GT (Lot S83) and a 1969 Ford Torino Talladega GPT Special (Lot S123), each selling for $440,000, followed by a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback (Lot S154) at $363,000.

Celebrity-owned vehicles added to the auction’s allure, with a 1969 Cadillac Eldorado (Lot F182), previously owned by Elvis Presley, generating significant buzz and selling for $253,000. Additionally, a piece of American presidential history, a 1964 Imperial Crown Ghia (Lot S149) that served Jacqueline Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, went for $181,500.

Other notable sales included a 2017 Dodge Viper ACR VoooDoo II Edition (Lot S146) at $357,500, a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Z06/N03 (Lot F129) at $346,500, and a 1961 Chevrolet Impala Convertible (Lot S151) at $302,500, showcasing the diverse appeal of the auction’s offerings.
