Mecum Auctions continued its dominance in the collector car market as the 2025 Indy Auction wrapped up with total sales surpassing $100 million, marking the fifth consecutive year the event has reached the nine-figure milestone.
Held from May 9 to May 17, the nine-day spectacle, formally known as Dana Mecum’s 38th Original Spring Classic, once again brought together buyers, sellers, and spectators from around the globe to celebrate some of the finest vehicles in automotive history. With a 77 percent sell-through rate, the auction moved 1,732 vehicles across the block, including classic cars, modern supercars, muscle machines, and motorcycles.
“The energy in Indianapolis continues to be electric,” said Mecum Auctions President Frank Mecum. “Year after year, this event proves itself as one of the premier collector car auctions in the world.”
Leading the sales was a 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari, which fetched a staggering $3.85 million, followed by a 2015 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse at $2.64 million and a 2023 Ferrari 812 Competizione Coupe, which changed hands for $1.54 million. These sales exemplify the growing demand for modern exotics alongside traditional collector favorites.
Classic American performance also had a strong showing. Highlights included a 1965 Shelby Cobra CSX4000 Series Roadster ($990,000), a 1963 Pontiac Catalina Super Duty “Swiss Cheese” ($742,500), and a 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro ($715,000). Rounding out the top sellers were a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 ($627,000) and a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird ($605,000), both confirming sustained interest in vintage muscle cars.
Coinciding with the month-long festivities of the Indianapolis 500, the Mecum Indy Auction remains a cornerstone of the city’s automotive culture. As the 2025 edition concludes, it solidifies Mecum’s reputation for delivering high-stakes auctions and record-breaking results year after year.
