A Mercedes-AMG One hypercar, one of the most advanced and expensive street-legal vehicles ever produced, has been completely destroyed by fire, as videos of the incident circulate widely on social media.
The vehicle, reportedly finished in Emerald Green Metallic with a beige leather interior, caught fire earlier this week under unclear circumstances. Footage posted by Instagram user @chrimbu shows the car engulfed in flames as firefighters attempt to contain the blaze. A second clip reveals the aftermath: a smoldering carcass of charred carbon fiber and melted metal, where the multi-million-dollar vehicle once stood.
At this time, there are no confirmed details on the cause of the fire. A spokesperson for Mercedes-Benz has not commented publicly but is expected to launch an internal investigation to determine the origin of the failure.
With a price tag exceeding $2.7 million, the AMG One is a hybrid hypercar inspired directly by Formula 1 technology. It features a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine paired with two electric motors, delivering a total of 1,063 horsepower. The car accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds, and hits 124 mph in under 7 seconds.
The hypercar’s powertrain—adapted from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team—has pushed the boundaries of what’s possible for road cars. But this incident raises new concerns over heat management and complex hybrid system reliability, especially for vehicles operating with motorsport-derived components.
Only 275 units of the AMG One are being built, making this loss a significant blow to what is already an exclusive and limited-production model.
Mercedes-Benz has yet to release an official statement or comment on whether other AMG One owners will be contacted as part of any precautionary technical review.
