A trio of standout collector cars is set to cross the block at the Spring Specialty Auto Auction in Greeley, Colorado, on Saturday, May 10, where rare muscle meets modern performance in a showcase of American automotive history.
Leading the lineup is a 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator Boss 302, one of only 469 factory-built examples ever produced. Painted in striking Competition Blue with a white interior, this rare hardtop muscle car has been meticulously restored and mechanically overhauled to preserve its original character while enhancing its drivability. Originally equipped with a 302 cubic-inch V8, the engine was rebuilt by Blue Oval Performance with a Crane solid-lifter cam, hardened valve seats, and a factory Holley 780 carburetor rebuilt by Ford carburetor expert Joe Bunitec.
Among its many highlights are Shelby-inspired suspension modifications, a factory Hurst 4-speed, 3.91 rear end, and a complete restoration of the interior—including an 8,000 RPM tach and updated electronic sequential turn signal system. Joining the Cougar is a 1970 Ford Torino GT Convertible, finished in Calypso Coral with black bucket seats and factory laser stripes. The car received a mechanical refresh after its purchase at Mecum Glendale in 2023, including a rebuilt 429 V8 stroked to 460, Trick Flow aluminum heads, and a 3.15 Traction-Lok rear differential. A new power convertible top and updated suspension make it a comfortable cruiser with unmistakable classic appeal.
Rounding out the group is a 2003 Dodge Viper SRT-10, a modern icon with just over 22,000 miles. This V10-powered roadster features tasteful upgrades like forged CCW wheels, BC coilovers, carbon steering wheel, and a custom exhaust with high-flow catalytic converters. With its aggressive styling and track-focused performance, the black-on-black Viper is a standout among early 2000s performance machines.
