A recently delivered Lamborghini Revuelto was heavily damaged in a highway accident in southern India, raising questions after the vehicle’s airbags reportedly did not deploy during the impact.
The incident involved a Revuelto owned by a well-known Indian businessman. The high-performance hybrid supercar had been delivered only about a month earlier and was still operating with temporary registration plates when the crash occurred.
According to reports, the accident took place on a highway near the city of Thrissur in the state of Kerala. During the collision, the Lamborghini struck a sport utility vehicle. The impact caused the SUV to overturn before coming to rest on its side
Despite the severity of the crash, no injuries were reported among the occupants of either vehicle. The outcome appears fortunate considering the significant damage sustained by the supercar and the rollover experienced by the SUV.
Images circulating on social media suggest the Lamborghini may have clipped the SUV while traveling at high speed. Most of the damage is concentrated on the passenger side of the car. The force of the collision tore off the rear wheel and suspension components, leaving the area around the rear corner extensively damaged.
The front wheel on the same side also suffered major destruction, with the rim appearing to have shattered from the impact. The extent of the damage indicates the collision delivered substantial force to the vehicle’s side structure.
One aspect of the crash that has drawn particular attention is the apparent lack of airbag deployment. In a collision severe enough to cause this level of damage, airbags would typically be expected to activate. The airbags in this case reportedly remained undeployed.
One possible explanation could involve the driver’s seatbelt usage at the time of the crash, though the exact circumstances surrounding the safety systems’ response have not been confirmed.
The accident adds to a small number of high-profile incidents involving the Lamborghini Revuelto since its introduction. In one case reported last year in Indonesia, a Revuelto collided with a Suzuki S-Presso at high speed. Another incident involved a newly delivered example that crashed in Beirut, Lebanon.
The Revuelto represents Lamborghini’s latest flagship supercar and marks a new chapter for the brand as it introduces hybrid technology into its lineup.
