One-Off Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Elephant Blanc Heads to Bonhams Auction

A one-of-one Bugatti Chiron Super Sport inspired by one of the most storied symbols in the brand’s early history is set to be offered at auction early next year. The 2024 Chiron Super Sport known as “Elephant Blanc” blends modern hypercar engineering with design references rooted in Bugatti’s prewar past and will be sold through Bonhams Cars.

The name Elephant Blanc, which translates to “white elephant,” reflects both the car’s Blanc Glacier exterior finish and its historical inspiration. The theme traces back to the Bugatti Type 41 Royale, a monumental luxury car produced around 1930 and remembered as one of the rarest and most expensive automobiles ever built. Bugatti is believed to have produced just six Royales, each notable for its massive proportions and a 12.8-liter inline-eight engine. The model’s distinctive elephant radiator cap became a lasting symbol of the brand’s artistic identity.

That elephant sculpture was created by Rembrandt Bugatti, brother of company founder Ettore Bugatti, and the one-off Chiron commission is dedicated to his legacy. While the modern hypercar does not feature a hood-mounted sculpture, its interior includes subtle nods to the historic motif. Elephant designs are embroidered into the seat headrests, while the side sill bears the “L’ Elephant Blanc” script. The cabin is finished primarily in Bleu France upholstery and exposed carbon fiber, emphasizing a balance between luxury craftsmanship and performance-focused materials.

Under the bodywork, the Chiron Super Sport retains the specification that defines the model. Power comes from an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine producing 1,578 horsepower. Unlike the more aggressive Pur Sport, the Super Sport prioritizes high-speed stability and long-distance refinement. Its extended long-tail design improves aerodynamic efficiency, allowing the car to remain composed at extreme speeds.

The Elephant Blanc is scheduled to cross the block at The Scottsdale Auction on Jan. 23, 2026. Bonhams has not released a public estimate, though the standard Chiron Super Sport carries a base price of approximately $3.8 million. The hypercar will be offered alongside notable classics at the same sale, including a 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Coupe and a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster.

The auction appearance places a modern Bugatti with deep historical roots into the public spotlight, combining bespoke design, brand heritage and cutting-edge performance in a single, highly exclusive offering.
