Pininfarina has once again captured the automotive world’s attention with the unveiling of its latest one-off creation, the Battista Targamerica. This bespoke convertible hypercar, commissioned by a prominent car collector, marks the first client-specific project since Pininfarina transitioned into a standalone brand. The Targamerica is based on the all-electric Battista but takes exclusivity to new heights with its unique removable roof panel, offering an open-air driving experience like no other.

The inspiration behind the Targamerica comes from a legendary predecessor, the 1986 Ferrari Testarossa Spider, which was built to commemorate Gianni Agnelli’s 20th year as Fiat’s chairman. Like the Testarossa Spider, the Battista Targamerica features a sophisticated silver exterior with blue accents, and the trunk lid slats pay homage to the iconic Ferrari. However, Pininfarina has reimagined these elements with modern elegance and a touch of Italian flair.

The transformation from coupe to convertible was no simple task. Pininfarina’s design team, working closely with the unnamed collector, had to make significant structural modifications to maintain the vehicle’s integrity while enhancing its aesthetic appeal. The result is a stunning roadster that seamlessly blends the timeless design cues of its predecessor with the cutting-edge technology of today.

Inside, the Targamerica is equally impressive. The cabin is adorned with tan leather seats that contrast beautifully with the black leather steering wheel and dashboard. A “one of one” plaque proudly sits between the seats, signifying the car’s singular status. However, the true pièce de résistance is the custom cigar holder and humidor, integrated into the space below the plaque. This luxurious feature, back-lit for added drama, can hold up to three cigars, catering to the most discerning tastes.

The Battista Targamerica is set to make its public debut at The Quail, a Motorsport Gathering, during Monterey Car Week before being delivered to its fortunate owner. The car’s journey from concept to reality took a full year, with Pininfarina’s craftsmen meticulously building it by hand. According to Davide Amantea, Pininfarina’s chief design officer, this one-of-a-kind vehicle will never be replicated, ensuring its place as a true automotive icon.
