A striking re-creation of the legendary Porsche 906 is now up for sale, combining the aesthetics and spirit of the original with modern craftsmanship. Constructed between 2020 and 2021 by a Porsche specialist in Southwestern France, this Carrera 6 replica brings the glory of 1960s endurance racing into the hands of today’s enthusiasts. It was imported to the U.S. six months ago and is currently registered in Georgia.
The 906 re-creation mirrors the original’s tubular steel spaceframe design, wrapped in a lightweight fiberglass body. A 2.7-liter flat-six engine, paired with triple-throat Weber carburetors and a Carrera RS-style lightened flywheel, powers the vehicle. Delivering both vintage thrills and reliable performance, the engine is mated to a Porsche 914-derived five-speed manual transaxle. Additional modern touches include four-wheel disc brakes with adjustable bias, coil-sprung independent suspension, and an oil cooler.
Finished in an eye-catching green, the re-creation features unique design elements such as front-hinged doors, a louvered plexiglass rear canopy, and bullet-style fender mirrors. While staying true to its inspiration, it incorporates functional updates like vented panels and quick-release pins on the front hood. The car sits on silver-painted wheels fitted with Mazzini and Habilead tires.
Inside, the cockpit is outfitted with red bucket seats, a central shifter with a polished knob, and a black fiberglass dash housing an 8k-rpm tachometer. Plexiglass side windows with hinged vents and a three-spoke steering wheel on a quick-release hub add to the racing feel.
The mid-mounted flat-six engine, serviced in late 2024, includes new spark plugs, an oil change, and a carburetor tune-up. Despite being road-ready, the car has not been regularly driven for three years and would benefit from a brake service and alignment.
Offered with photos documenting its meticulous construction and a Georgia registration, this Porsche 906 re-creation is a rare chance to own a masterpiece inspired by a motorsport icon.
