In Seattle, Washington, a remarkable piece of Ferrari’s development history, the “F150 Prototipo Preserie PS1,” is once again up for auction. This third-phase prototype of the LaFerrari, which mirrors the final production models in bodywork, powertrain, and most luxury features, has been a hard sell in previous auctions. Despite its near-production readiness, the vehicle is not eligible for road registration, limiting its use to that of a collectible rather than a functional vehicle.

The prototype, listed on SBX Cars, is making its third appearance on the auction scene, having previously failed to sell at Monterey Car Week in both 2022 and 2023. The seller is now attempting a direct auction in hopes of finally transferring ownership of this nearly unique Ferrari, which carries the historical significance of being one of the test mules during the LaFerrari’s development. This specific vehicle has racked up more miles than any other LaFerrari, displaying 10,198 miles on its odometer, a testament to its extensive use in refining the model to perfection.

Despite its well-lived condition, with visible wear and an unconventional paint job that highlights its prototype status, this LaFerrari is far from ordinary. Its distinctive appearance, adorned with Pirelli stickers, resembles a cool livery more than a final production paint job. However, its utility is further limited by a restriction to just 30 mph, essentially rendering it a museum piece rather than a track or road car. With bidding currently standing at $980,000 and the auction set to close in less than two days, this piece of Ferrari’s trailblazing history awaits a collector who values its unique story and status.
