Ford GT Heritage Edition From Ford’s Own Collection Gets Sold

Ford’s tossing a chunk of its legacy onto the auction block. For the first time ever, the automaker’s unloading one of its prized heritage rides—a 2005 GT Heritage Edition wrapped in that unforgettable Gulf racing colors, a throwback to its Le Mans glory days.

Only 343 of these bad boys rolled off the line, making this one a rare beast. It’s number three, no less, in the Heritage lineup. Been kicking around Ford’s promo circuit for years, racking up 8,435 miles while trotting out for photo ops and press gigs. Packing a snarling 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 and a six-speed stick, it’s no garage queen—this thing’s been driven.

Yeah, it’s had a couple of bumps (who hasn’t?), including a fender-bender and an unplanned ditch detour. But everything’s been fixed up right. No word yet on what it’ll fetch, but another Heritage GT went for a cool $850k earlier this year. This one? Maybe a tad less, given the mileage and scrapes.

Whatever it pulls in, the cash is going right back into Ford’s heritage stash—keeping the rest of their legendary racers alive for another generation to drool over.
