Rare Reggie Jackson-Owned 1969 Camaro COPO Set to Turn Heads at Vicari Spring Auction

A rare and highly coveted piece of American muscle car history—once owned by baseball legend Reggie Jackson—is headed to the auction block at Vicari’s Spring Classic, drawing the attention of collectors and sports fans alike.

The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro “COPO,” finished in Fathom Green with a matching green interior, is a certified original, matching-numbers example featuring the factory-installed COPO 427-cubic inch, 425-horsepower V8 engine mated to a Muncie M-22 four-speed transmission. As one of the most desirable high-performance Camaros of the muscle car era, this particular vehicle is made even more remarkable by its star-studded provenance.

Jackson, known not only for his Hall of Fame baseball career but also for his expansive car collection, once owned this well-preserved muscle car. While Jackson’s name adds undeniable cachet, the Camaro stands on its own as a factory-built COPO model—a rarity created through Chevrolet’s Central Office Production Order system to circumvent corporate limits on engine size in passenger vehicles.

Adding to its allure is the vehicle’s original factory BE 12-bolt rear axle, standard bucket seats, full console with auxiliary gauges, and a documented history that includes the original Protect-O-Plate and other factory documentation. The vehicle is extensively documented and has received a Certificate of Authenticity verifying its originality and matching numbers status.

With the market for vintage performance cars booming and interest in celebrity-owned collectibles growing, the Camaro is expected to command significant attention when it crosses the block.

Vicari Auction officials have not released a pre-auction estimate, but given the car’s pristine condition, historical value, and celebrity ownership, bidders should be ready for a fierce competition.

The auction is scheduled for later this spring in Gulfport, where this piece of muscle car and baseball lore may find a new home.

This Spring’s auction will have around 400 vehicles and over one hundred automobilia available to bid on live and online on May 30 & 31. Register your vehicle or to bid on our website. The location is the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center.
