Red Bull Racing has announced that its much-anticipated RB17 hypercar, designed by Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey, will make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this year. This announcement comes amid news that Newey will depart the Formula 1 team in 2025 after an illustrious 18-year tenure.

Despite his impending departure, Newey remains committed to completing the RB17 project, a track-only hypercar that promises to push the boundaries of automotive engineering. “The final stages of development of RB17 are upon us,” Newey stated. “For the remainder of my time with the team, my focus will lie there.”

The RB17 is reported to be powered by a 1,000-horsepower V10 engine capable of revving up to 15,000 rpm, supplemented by an additional 200 horsepower from an electric motor. Weighing in at less than 2,000 pounds, the hypercar is designed to deliver lap times on par with Formula 1 vehicles. It will also feature peak downforce of 3,747 pounds at 150 mph, and an impressive 2,000 pounds at just 120 mph.

Red Bull plans to produce only 50 units of the RB17, each priced at approximately $6.3 million. The car’s unveiling at Goodwood is set to be a landmark event, showcasing what may be one of the most advanced track-only cars ever developed.

As the automotive and racing communities await the RB17’s official reveal, the hypercar stands as a testament to Newey’s pioneering contributions to motorsport and automotive design. His career at Red Bull Racing has been marked by innovation and success, and the RB17 is expected to be a fitting culmination of his achievements with the team.
