With most cars, the domestic market is usually stronger than foreign sales, or at least it doesn’t lag that far behind. But Rimac isn’t like most other automakers and the Nevera is a very special hypercar, commanding a price few in Croatia can afford. That’s why until now the Croatian company hasn’t delivered one to a fellow countryman.
Lotus is on a quest to make self-driving sports cars.
That’s not to say that Croatians aren’t proud of Rimac, because they certainly are. While the automaker lacks the historical depth of Ferrari, Croatians still feel a swell of pride upon seeing one. Just they won’t be seeing this Rimac tooling around the roadways of Croatia.
The customer, a neurosurgeon named Dr. Branko Škovrlj, lives in New Jersey. Since he’s from Croatia it’s a big deal, which is understandable.
Škovrlj was able to travel to the Rimac factory after going through the consultation process to custom order his Nevera. There, he witnessed the construction of his all-electric hypercar, apparently remarking that the extensive wiring installed reminded him of the brain’s neurons, an interesting observation.
Ultimately, the neurosurgeon opted for the sultry Predator Black “Fantasy” exterior color with a Red Blaze leather interior, a striking combination which makes a bold statement. To tie the two together, gloss red brake calipers peek through the Infinitus-style wheels.
But Škovrlj didn’t stop the customizations there, adding a few bespoke details to the cabin, like black satin finish on the anodized metal surfaces. He also went for perforation on the seats, a smart move to help leather upholstery stay comfortable at any temperature.
This story also helps Rimac highlight for anyone interested how it provides a white glove ordering and fulfillment process. Some might wrongly assume the young startup is running a bit of a skeleton operation when it comes to customer service, when in fact it strives to pamper buyers. While it’s probably nothing like the experience of purchasing a Ferrari, there is a certain allure to Rimac some find preferable.
We certainly hope Dr. Škovrlj thoroughly enjoys his new acquisition and that he’s far from the last Croatian to take delivery of a Nevera.
