Rimac, the Croatian electric vehicle manufacturer renowned for pushing the boundaries of automotive engineering, has once again raised the bar with the unveiling of the Nevera R at this year’s Monterey Car Week. The Nevera R is a high-performance variant of the already blisteringly fast Rimac Nevera, and it promises to deliver an even more thrilling driving experience.

The original Rimac Nevera, which entered production in 2022, was already one of the most powerful and fastest cars ever built. With a quad-motor powertrain capable of producing 1,914 horsepower and 1,726 lb-ft of torque, it could rocket from zero to 62 mph in just 1.81 seconds and reach a top speed of 256 mph. But for Mate Rimac, the company’s founder and CEO, that simply wasn’t enough.

The new Nevera R takes the Nevera’s capabilities to the next level. Rimac has enhanced the aerodynamics of the car, introducing a fixed rear wing and other revisions that improve aerodynamic efficiency by 10 percent and increase downforce by 30 percent. These changes are not merely cosmetic; they contribute to the car’s improved handling and stability at high speeds.

Under the hood, or rather beneath the sleek exterior, the Nevera R features a redesigned powertrain that delivers a staggering 2,107 horsepower—nearly 200 hp more than the standard Nevera. This increase in power is made possible by a new performance-oriented battery system that feeds the car’s quartet of electric motors. The vehicle also benefits from Rimac’s next-generation All-Wheel Torque system, which provides instantaneous torque vectoring, enhancing the car’s agility and responsiveness.

The performance figures of the Nevera R are nothing short of astonishing. The car can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 1.74 seconds, reach 124 mph in 4.38 seconds, and hit 186 mph in a mere 8.66 seconds. While its top speed remains at 256 mph, the Nevera R is now the first production car, according to Rimac, that accelerates faster than it decelerates—a claim that highlights the car’s extraordinary performance capabilities.

The Nevera R will be an exclusive offering, with only 40 units planned for production. Each car will come with a price tag starting at approximately $2.5 million, making it a true collector’s item for those who crave the ultimate in electric hypercar performance.

In a world where speed and power are often synonymous with gasoline engines, the Rimac Nevera R stands as a testament to the potential of electric propulsion. With its unmatched acceleration, cutting-edge technology, and stunning design, the Nevera R is not just a car—it’s a glimpse into the future of high-performance driving.
