Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has introduced the Spectre Lunaflair, a stunning one-off creation commissioned by a private client in the United States. This bespoke masterpiece stands out with its unique holographic paint finish, which shimmers with a captivating rainbow effect inspired by a lunar halo. This rare optical phenomenon occurs when moonlight passes through ice crystals in high-altitude clouds, creating a technicolor ring of light, much like a diamond’s sparkle.
The creation of the Spectre Lunaflair’s paint took over a year of development. Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke team meticulously trialed different paint chemistries, base coats, and application techniques. The final result is a seven-layer lacquer that incorporates fine flakes of magnesium fluoride and aluminum, which interact with light to produce a deep metallic sheen in low light, transforming into a dazzling display of rainbow hues under sunlight.
This commission was inspired by a previous Rolls-Royce masterpiece, the Phantom Syntopia, known for its iridescent Liquid Noir finish. The client, intrigued by the concept, requested a lighter, more luminous expression of the idea, resulting in the Spectre Lunaflair’s radiant homage to the lunar halo.
The interior of the Spectre Lunaflair is equally impressive, featuring a bespoke design that echoes the lunar halo’s spectrum. Navy Blue, White, and Peony Pink tones adorn the seats, doors, and the signature Starlight Headliner, creating a celestial ambiance within the vehicle. This ethereal design extends to the dual-tone steering wheel, which showcases an Arctic White and Navy Blue color combination.
With only one Spectre Lunaflair ever to be produced, this commission is truly a unique celebration of bespoke artistry.
